Of course, one of the things that happened was we put a lot of work into lining it up, rolling it out over March. I hope you, folks, enjoyed that we enjoy putting it together. Well, we have made it through our future of series. The ones I watched subsequently appeared to fall into a formulaic rut: a little too preachy (especially in the parenting vertical since most have teenagers in pivotal roles), and at times predictable - which do not really augur well with the makings of a thriller. It was my first Coben, and none of his other offerings has been as riveting. My favourite Harlan Coben Netflix adaptation (he has a series-making deal with the OTT channel) is, without a doubt, Safe. Er was told to sit and watch the proceedings of the court, for he was to return to life and tell living men his story. The just souls were directed to take the right-hand chasm leading into heaven the unjust souls were condemned to the left-hand chasm down into the earth. Between the chasms and between heaven and earth sit judges who pass judgment on the souls of men who come before their court. After Er's soul left his body, it traveled with other souls to a wonderful place where there are two chasms in the earth and two above them in the sky. Ten days after his death, his body is taken home and laid on the funeral pyre, but there Er comes back to life and tells the story of his adventure. Er is a brave soldier who dies in battle. Part of Er's fate is that he will tell men yet alive his story of life after death. If it exploits the self, or manipulates its consumer, yes. An unflinching telling of a cruel world and a cruel act, named after a real, innocent victim of the Camorra. Which television episode would you recommend to our readers? Yeats. It’s about the loss of inspiration in a creative life, but I read it as Yeats reassessing his muse, and find it comforting. Which poem would you recommend to our readers? Book Summary: The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware Without a hint of exaggeration, I could say that a book never had that haunting effect on me. I woke up with my heart beating rapidly and I was thisclose to grabbing my phone, start reading again at 4AM and satiate my subconscious. No, I didn’t have a visual of the characters nor had a dreamy encounter with them, but I can vividly recall how I was in full mental concentration to find out the mystery of the story halfway before I finish it. Last night was the first time, and it was about this book. I’ve told countless times how much I wanted to dream of my book boyfriends, but the bitter truth is, I’ve never really dreamed of them or the book itself-at least none that I could remember. The writing was superb, I was hypnotized by the words and the quasi-insane pacing was something I gradually absorbed as I go through the book. Truly one of the rarest and meticulously crafted story I’ve ever had the pleasure to immerse myself in. Everything I am looking for in a book was laid out in this impeccable masterpiece. |
